Bereavement Project

Free professional support for people affected by grief

Professional support can go a long way to help you cope through difficult times.

Losing a loved one can be one of the hardest things anyone can go through. It’s important for people grieving to know that whatever they’re facing, they’re not alone or isolated.

This support is available for people anywhere in Wales. The early stages of the support will involve getting to understand each person’s unique circumstances and what they’re experiencing.

Thanks to funding we can provide:

  • 8 sessions of counselling,  available online, over the phone or face to face in Cardiff and Swansea centres.
  • Peer support, is based around connecting with others going through a similar experience.
  • Self-help guides with the aim of helping ‘normalise’ feelings and coming to terms with what has happened.
  • Mindfulness techniques, ways of keeping your daily routine going, and understanding the effects of grief on your physical health.

What our clients say

“It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that counselling changed my life, it has been amazing. I’ve learnt so much and am in such a positive place. When I started 8 weeks ago I didn’t think 8 hours was going to change anything but I’m happy to say it’s changed everything for me. My counsellor was brilliant, professional but caring at the same time. It’s been an excellent experience”!

What our clients say

“Within a month of sessions I achieved so much, I gained back confidence that I had lost and felt the weight of my depression was lifting. I looked forward to talking to my counsellor every week as it helped me process the thousands of terrifying thoughts in my mind”

What our clients say

“In just 8 sessions I have addressed my feelings of helplessness, guilt and fear in a way I have been unable to in years. The non-judgemental space counselling provided means I have changed my behaviour significantly and recognise that the only person I can change is me”

What our clients say

“I cannot believe how much I have gained from these 8 sessions. It has been really quite significant for me. Nicola literally was the ideal personality type for this to be an effective resource for me. Not only did I feel accepted and safe, but I also found she met me in my times of excitement and always saw the importance of my achievements. I feel I have had a large shift towards acceptance of my feelings over the last 8 weeks”

What our clients say

“I came to my sessions distraught with issues that I was dealing with. I was met with understanding and compassion and felt I could open up really easily. I had several light bulb moments with Morgan that have directly improved my ability to cope with the sustained trauma I have experienced and ongoing life issues”
