Counselling and wellbeing centre Breathe is offering free counselling sessions to UK doctors and medical students
Eight fully funded sessions are available online or over the phone hanks to funding from the British Medical Association.
The counsellors at Breathe work with people on ways to help manage mental health and wellbeing, finding ways forward that are best suited to each person’s individual goals.
Addressing the impact of mental health issues during the pandemic, the funding provides vital support to continue and expand Breathe’s services to those facing challenges with their mental health.
A BMA report found that doctors from across the UK have told first-hand the effect that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on their mental health and wellbeing, describing increased stress, anxiety and emotional exhaustion in recent months.
They described how long working hours in unfamiliar settings, intensified conditions, worries about PPE, fear of contracting Covid and passing it on to their loved ones, losing such a high number of patients and seeing bereaved families, was having an effect on their own wellbeing.
Limited spaces available.
The first step is to complete and return a referral form. We will then be in touch to book an assessment. Please note current waiting list is up to 12 weeks.
At the assessment, we’ll talk about the counselling services we provide and we’ll link you with a counsellor – best suited to your needs.
