My name is Amanda and I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered counsellor. I work with adults, children and adolescents.
I am a qualified Humanistic Existential and CBT counsellor who will help you to explore difficult struggles and personal experiences in your life by offering a nurturing and supportive therapeutic relationship. CBT practices focus on the development of personal coping strategies, targeting and solving current problems and changing unhelpful patterns in your thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, behaviours, and emotions.
I will sometimes use Gestalt therapy focusing on the here and now and/or solution-focused therapy which looks at solutions and motivation to change a particular behaviour.
I will work closely with you to overcome life’s uncertainties, unblock any fears, uncover triggers that cause unhappiness, help you make links to understand where you are and enhance your self-awareness. In doing this, you can decide whether you need to make changes and if so set goals to make those changes and plan your future.
Each unique story needs a unique ‘package’ designed especially for you and the type of therapy used will be discussed with you to establish the type of counselling that best suits your requirements.
I have a particular interest in working with anxiety, anger and trauma.
For me, helping others is a passion and a far cry from working in the insurance industry for more than 30 years. I love walking, reading and spending time with my family.
