Karen Maidment

Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling/Integrative Counsellor

What I do: I specialise in working with:

• Bereavement
• Trauma
• Anxiety/depression
• Anger
• Personality disorders
• Addiction
• Relationships

My Approach: Is Person-centred, Humanistic Existential, Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic.

How it works: I offer therapy aimed at seeing things through the client’s perspective, taking into account the history, development, way of being and experiences of the clients. We are all very unique individuals and will experience events that will leave us with thoughts and affects our wellbeing that are personal to us.

How it may help: Having a safe, confidential space in which to explore your thoughts and feelings, where you feel heard, respected and valued as an individual, is important. Where you have formed a therapeutic relationship of trust with your therapist, you can be helped to develop different perspectives and coping strategies to move forward in your lives.

A bit about me: I’ve enjoyed working in many different fields of the caring/nursing/supporting professions, since leaving education. I’ve worked with the elderly, both in the community setting and in the care setting, with children within the care sector and with the profoundly disabled, learning difficulties and the terminally ill. I love music and amateur dramatics, gardening and spending time with the family.
