Trainee Counselling Psychologist
Hi, my name is Nina. I’m a counselling psychologist in training for a doctorate in Counselling Psychology with the British Psychological Society.
I am a mixed race; my late father was from India and my mother is from Cornwall – they met in Birmingham and the rest is history! I grew up in Hampshire but have been living in Wales for nearly 20 years. I’m a mum to two young adult sons.
Sometimes people have been managing a particular problem for years such as anxiety, binge eating or low mood. Together we will discover how these disorders developed and how they are being maintained. We can explore ways to break patterns of unhelpful behaviour or ways of thinking, using methods that are based on evidence and psychological theories.
I have worked in a counselling psychology service with people struggling with chronic health conditions and I was an assistant psychologist for a Bereavement service. I have worked for MIND and two primary care services in the NHS and I have also worked with children with Place2Be.
I have worked with stress, relationship issues, all anxieties (panic, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety), depression, bereavement and complex grief, obsessional compulsive disorder, emotional dysregulation and eating disorders.
I am a member of the BACP, the BABCP and the BPS and adhere to their ethical guidelines.
