Hello, I’m Sarah I am a qualified Systemic, Integrative Counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and AFT. I have several years of current experience at both Cardiff Metropolitan and Cardiff University working with a wide spectrum of issues including low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, Suicide Ideation, Trauma, Neuro-diverse groups, such as ASD, ADHD, ODC Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
As I qualified family therapist, I work with people to explore the different influences affecting not only them but also to unpick the relationships with other people who may influence them (within their system). Encouraging the person to explore with me their issues, not only helps to find ways for them to communicate their needs, but it also allows them to identify entrenched patterns within their relationships with family, friends, and other relationships.
In addition, I use Narrative Therapy to explore the client’s untold narratives and how these have influenced how they see the world around them. I also draw on Solution Focus Therapy when suitable and encourage people to see their strengths and resilience, to create positive changes for their future.
I believe, we all can work towards change. As your Counsellor, I have a strong belief in taking time to build a trusting relationship. I will provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to talk, be listened to and feel heard. Through this, people can become empowered and aware of how to construct a healthier relationship with not just themselves as individuals but also within a family system.
Outside of work I enjoy walks on a local beach. It’s my happy place to re-energise, with my lovely husband and our dog Rosie. This is my go-to place to blow off the ‘cobwebs and turn down the volume of chatter in my head from my day.
